Authors FAQ

Authors write. Authors FAQ are about marketing their books. Writing is a solitary pursuit but marketing is best done by a group.

Christian-books-Bible-stories is sponsored by The Coalition of Independent Authors.

Below are some authors' FAQ and answers. We welcome your questions.

1) Why a Coalition of Independent Authors?

The publishing industry has undergone major changes in the last twenty-five years. Print on Demand and Self-published books do not carry the stigma of the Vanity Press books of yesteryear. The next major upheaval will be in marketing books. With POD and self-published books authors do not have a publisher marketing their books for them.

The choices authors presently have are try to sell their books from their own website or have a corporate conglomerate sell their books.

The drawbacks of these marketing strategies:

A) Single author websites don't generate enough traffic.

B) Companies want "Standard Commissions" for selling books.

The Coalition does not sell books. The Coalition advertises your book and you sell it.

The advantages:

A) A site large enough to generate traffic of people looking for your genre of books

B) No middleman costs. No "standard commission" a small yearly fee or even free advertising.

2) Why should I join the Coalition?

Independence from corporate giants allows you to control the price of your book and receive the full list price.

3) What if my book isn't a Christian book?

Go to the Coalition of Independent Authors' website for other genres.

4) Why does the Coalition offer free advertising to indie authors?

Authors helping authors market their books is more then our logo. It is what we do.

I believe that we authors have the knowledge and united we have the power to market our own books on our own terms.

5) What if I don't have my own website to send potential customers to?

There are several possible answers you need to choose the solution that fits you.

A) Build a small website. Wordpress.com gives a website and a blog for free. Set paypal up on your site (no cost to you.)

B) On your page instead of a link to a website just have your email or phone number.

C) If you have gone with a POD Publisher place a link to their site so customers may buy from them. You have none of the business worries. Sharon's Corner Bookstore markets your book for only a small yearly fee (or free) and the publisher sells your books and send your royalty checks to you.
